Page of Wands

Minor arcanum

Also: Page of Rods · Page of Staves · Knave of Wands

Upright

Curiosity with no training and no fear

Curiosity, news, a first attempt, eagerness, an apprentice

Reversed

Enthusiasm that evaporates by the second week

Eagerness with a fortnight in it, scattered, empty news

What the card means

Upright

Curiosity with no training and no fear - and the second matters more than the first. The Page takes up what he does not know to be difficult, which is exactly why he starts. Often literally a piece of news, or somebody younger than you arriving with an idea.

Reversed

Enthusiasm that evaporates by the second week. Or news that turned out to be nothing. Sometimes a fifth thing taken up before the first four were finished.

As a person

Young and eager: a child, a teenager or a student who catches fire at an idea and wants to try before knowing how. Often brings news or an offer. In shadow, drops what was started the moment it gets dull.

Love and relationships

Upright

Flirtation, an easy beginning, an invitation with nothing attached. Somebody shows interest openly and clumsily. For a couple, playfulness coming back.

Reversed

Interest that runs out the moment anything is required. Or flirting with no intention in it.

Work and business

Upright

A trainee, a new direction, a first attempt. Learning is easier now than it will be later. Do not be put off taking up what you cannot yet do.

Reversed

Started and dropped. Or enthusiasm the team has stopped taking seriously.

Money

Upright

Small money from a new occupation. Try it cheaply: this is reconnaissance, not investment.

Reversed

Spent on an interest that cooled in a month.

The card's advice

Take it up without establishing in advance whether it will work. And say out loud what you intend - a Page needs a listener for the idea to become a thing done.

As the card of the day

A day of news and first attempts. Good for starting to learn something. Poor for what needs experience.

What is depicted

A young man in a patterned tunic holds a wand and looks up along it as if for the first time. Desert and pyramids behind him. He is not going anywhere - he is looking at what he is holding.

Zodiac sign and correspondences

Fire that has not caught yet. By zodiac sign, no single one: the page stands for its element as a whole - Aries, Leo and Sagittarius.

Yes or no

Yes

Yes as a trial: the answer is about the beginning, not the outcome.
