Five of Swords
Winning at a cost, conflict, humiliation, being right to no purpose
An unpleasant day. Good for declining an argument. Poor for proving anything.
Winning in a way that costs more than losing
ReversedCounting the cost, and looking for the way back
What a card of the day is
A card of the day is not a prediction and not an instruction. It is one card for the next twenty-four hours, and it reads like weather: it says what kind of day is likely, not what will happen. The point is to learn the card in the morning and look back in the evening to see where it turned up. A month of that and the deck stops being a list of meanings and starts being a language.
How to read it
Take one quality from the card, not the whole list. For the Page of Wands that is curiosity, for the Four of Cups boredom, for the Tower whatever was already unsteady. The day will show you what it applies to - work, a conversation, the thing you have been putting off. Do not go hunting for coincidences: a card of the day is confirmed in hindsight, and that is normal.
If you do not like the card
There are no bad cards of the day, only uncomfortable ones. The Tower, the Ten of Swords, the Devil - none of them is a sentence passed on your day. They point at something already happening that you are probably working not to notice. Such a day is better lived attentively than replayed: drawing again until something pleasant comes up is the quickest way to stop trusting the deck.
The card of the day is one card for everybody. Your own reading is a different thing: it answers your question and falls for you alone.
