The Sun

What the card means

Upright

What was hidden comes into the light, and turns out simpler than it was in the dark. The least ambiguous card in the deck: no second meaning and no catch. The gladness in it is a child's - not because it is naive but because it is neither earned nor deserved, it is simply there.

Reversed

The success is there and the pleasure in it is not: it worked, and it does not feel like anything. Or the light is blocked - temporarily, by something small. The card barely spoils when reversed; it only dims.

Love and relationships

Upright

Openness, ease, a relationship that needs no explaining. A good sign for all of it: for beginning, for making up, for meeting the family.

Reversed

It is good and you are not feeling it. Or the gladness is being saved for a suitable moment that does not arrive.

Work and business

Upright

Recognition, clarity, work that is going. A good time to show the result and to ask for something for it. What was unclear will clear.

Reversed

Got there and are not marking it. Or the result exists and is being seen in the wrong place.

Money

Upright

Money arrives simply and on time. A good time for a purchase that pleases rather than one that is merely needed.

Reversed

There is sufficiency and no sense of it.

The card's advice

Say it plainly and come out into the light. No complicated decision is called for here - what is called for is to stop complicating. And notice the good that is already there: the card is about it being there now, not later.

As the card of the day

A good day for nearly everything. Particularly for being seen, saying it out loud, and being outdoors. Poor only for keeping things quiet.

What is depicted

A child rides a white horse bareback carrying a red banner, a wall of sunflowers behind, and over all of it a sun with a face. No bridle, no clothing, no danger: the one card with nothing to hide.
