One card

1 card

One card for one question. The shortest conversation available, and for that reason the most honest.

What this spread is

One card answers what was asked and nothing else. It shows no development and offers no alternatives: only the substance of the position as it stands. Short does not mean shallow - a card drawn on an exact question says more than ten drawn on “tell me something”.

When to use it

When there is one question and it has been put into words. For a card of the day, for checking your own read quickly, for the case where you have already decided and want to look at the decision from outside. It works badly where there are really three questions.

How to read it

Read the card whole - what it says upright, and what it says reversed if it fell that way. Do not fill in around it: if the answer feels incomplete, that is usually a sign the question was. Put it differently and draw again.

The positions

  1. 1 The heart

The substance of what you asked - as it stands, with no past and no forecast attached.

Lay it out

Laid on the table from your own cards - the positions are labelled the same as here.
