Wheel of Fortune

Major arcanum

Also: Fortune · Major Arcanum 10

Upright

The cycle closed before you noticed

A cycle, a turn, chance, fate, change nobody asked for

Reversed

Resisting a cycle that will turn anyway

Resistance, being stuck, a run of bad luck, the same circle again

What the card means

Upright

The wheel has turned, and usually before anybody noticed. The card is not about luck but about position changing by itself: what was at the top goes down, and the reverse. What can be steered is not the turn but where you are holding on.

Reversed

Resisting a cycle that will turn anyway. Energy goes into keeping a position that is already moving. Sometimes a circle coming round a third time, because nothing was concluded from the first two.

Love and relationships

Upright

Change arrives from outside: a meeting, a departure, a circumstance nobody chose. For a couple, the moment to accept the new arrangement rather than restore the old one.

Reversed

Going back to the same person, or to the same argument. Or waiting for it all to return to how it was.

Work and business

Upright

Circumstances have turned and are worth using now rather than when you feel ready. Luck, chance, an offer out of nowhere.

Reversed

Holding on to a role that no longer exists. Or the moment passed while it was being weighed up.

Money

Upright

Money comes and goes in waves. A good time not for a bet but for putting part of what arrived aside.

Reversed

A run that gets called bad luck and is more often the bill for an earlier turn.

The card's advice

Do not grip the spoke. Act while the position favours you, and do not be shocked when it changes: that is not punishment, it is the mechanism. Ask yourself which circle you are going round for the second time.

As the card of the day

A day where chance decides a lot. Good for saying yes to the unexpected. Poor for plans timed to the minute.

What is depicted

A wheel in the sky, TARO and the elemental signs around its rim; a sphinx above, a serpent descending, Anubis rising. Four creatures in the corners, all of them reading - the only things not turning.

Zodiac sign and correspondences

Jupiter - what widens, and what arrives of itself.

Yes or no

Yes

Yes, but not by your doing: it turns on circumstances, and they currently favour you.
