What the card means

Upright

The card says that good things get bigger when they are shared. It is rarely a wedding and almost never a triumph - the occasion is usually smaller than that: the work is finished, somebody came back, something finally worked. What matters is not the event but that there are people nearby to whom it also matters. It seldom speaks about a couple: its number is three and upward, a circle rather than a pair.

Reversed

The same thing, turned out. The company has gathered and there is no warmth in it: the talk goes past everyone, the shared undertaking turned out to be shared only in the telling. Sometimes it is too much celebrating and too little of everything else. Sometimes it is a third person nobody invited.

Love and relationships

Upright

A relationship with witnesses: friends are glad, the family took it well, people know and are on your side. For a couple it is a good sign of openness - nothing is being hidden and nothing needs explaining. For anyone single, the meeting is likelier in company than alone.

Reversed

Somebody has got in between the two of you: a person, an opinion, somebody else's family. Or the reverse - the couple has dissolved into the group and alone together they have nothing to say. Gossip that talks about you rather than to you.

Work and business

Upright

Work done together, in which everyone has a place. The team has come together, the contribution was noticed, the thing has reached a point where you can breathe out. A good card for partnerships and for anything that is not done alone.

Reversed

There is a team and nothing held in common: each pulls their own way, and credit is either claimed or quietly dissolved into somebody else's. Celebrating long past the point of working. Sometimes a room where everyone is discussed except the people in it.

Money

Upright

Money arrives through people: a shared commission, a share, help, a price you got by knowing somebody. What goes out is shared and pleasant too - a table, a present, an occasion. Nothing large, and nothing to worry about.

Reversed

Spending on appearances: a celebration that cost more than it was worth, presents nobody expected. Or a common purse where it is no longer clear who put in what.

The card's advice

Do not do this on your own. Ask the people who will be glad, and let them be glad out loud. Acknowledging somebody else's part is worth more here than adding another hour of your own.

As the card of the day

A day for people rather than tasks. There will probably be an occasion - small, or somebody else's, or shared - and the best thing to do with it is to be there. Anything that needs quiet and solitude will go worse today.

What is depicted

Three women raise their cups towards one another; at their feet are pumpkins and vines, so the harvest is already in. None of them stands ahead of the others: the circle is closed and level. What is being celebrated is not a beginning but something carried through to the end.
